Completed/Past Exchanges / Re: ADVANCED EXCHANGE - Mimic a Master
« on: May 09, 2015, 11:37:17 AM »
Hello for everyone on my list I AM SO SORRY!!
I got amazing letters and I am so freaked out by your skills! (Don't know how to say that otherwise, you all are awesome!)
My hand unfortunately did not heal as fast as I wanted to, and now I am so overwhelmed with exams again, that I haven't finished the exchange letters yet (It's been more than a month and I feel so bad!)  If I ever get around to sending them to you, you'll be surprised because you'll probably have forgotten all about this exchange till then. *sobs*
So Sorry :(

WOW!! @Felicia: How much time did you need for the envelope? It's a masterpiece! :O
I received my first envelope today (from Belgium) and it's also a very wonderful piece of work! Thank you so much Sybille!!

(I feel slightly afraid to begin… :D  )

Quick update from my part: I have not yet started. I wanted to this week but as my right thumb/hand got heavily injured during my holidays last week it might take a while longer. Right now I am happy that I at least have the use of four of my fingers back but the thumb heals way slower than I'd like - which makes for a lot of awkward situations in daily life! I really hope I'll make it at least to the deadline, if not I'll write another note! :)

Oh how lucky I am that the send out date is set so late (Right into my off-uni days and where I wanted to renovate the whole flat but sshhh don't tell anyone!)! Even though I am sooo far away from being advanced I want to try this, Starlee is right, It'll be a huge learning experience! :)

Get well soon everyone! It's really discouraging to hear about all the wrist problems of the forum members! :(

I've got no wrist problems but due to university, and work (yes, I've got the job) I have zero time to do some calligraphy. Every time I admire all your works on instagram I feel a deep loss, but I prefer willingly going to sleep at 9 pm (which I didn't even do as a kid - what has become of me T_T) than dropping dead asleep during classes. Still, all I wanna do is write some beautiful letters right now!! *sobs*

Thank you very much Linda! I just stood in the artist shop last week and was completely overwhelmed with all the brush pens they had. This helps a lot!! :)

Welcome back Moya!! :)

I've been visiting this post just to have a place to moan. Since yesterday I feel sick, having a cold and not being able to talk is so frustrating (the voice is doing a vacation without me)! And to make things worse tomorrow I have my first test in Chinese (written, so no worries yet.) and an appointment with my (soon-to-be/potential) new boss who'll be deciding if I get the part-time-job I so desperately need or not - It's just NOT the time to feel as bad as I do now. :(
At least my lovely boyfriend cooked some chicken vegetable soup for me...for the magical healing I need.

The thing is, as a kid the foremost thought is: Having fun (def. not spacing @ Heebs :D) ! And Gothic Textura and Fraktur may seem harder to learn but they are definitely more fun. I started with Fraktur when I was 11 (because I didn't know much about calligraphy and other styles, but when I learned more I still stuck to Fraktur, as I found the others  "boring" - yes I know, shame on me ^^; )

Maybe show him some samples and let him decide which one he likes best?
Let us know how it works!! :)

Broad Edge Pen Calligraphy / Re: Broad Pen Mail Exchange?
« on: October 01, 2014, 05:44:28 AM »

Natascha I think you've seen most of the envelopes on IG - the inside isn't much, just a really simple watercolor and a quote written in blackletter :)

Don't believe her, Natascha, it's really stunning! Linda, you are way too modest! :)

Linda, I received your card today as well! It is sooo lovely, I am totally in awe! And that paper! I love everything about it (also, NO WAY your Broad Pen work is rusty!)
I have sent mine today and I now feel like I should have waited just a bit longer! :D

So many beautiful cats! Mine are mischievous: always nibbling on my brushes and playing with my penholders when I have my back turned. True calligraphycats!!  8)
