Capitals identification, please!
« on: June 23, 2018, 03:57:26 PM »
Hi!

Can someone please tell me what kind of capitals those are?

Thanks!

Chris.

In the book Written Letters by Jacqueline Svaren, the very first style is:

A PEN MADE VERSION OF THE ROMAN MAJUSCULES KNOWN AS THE CAPITALIS QUADRATA
What you posted looks very similar to her exemplar.
Your sample has a slight slant and her exemplar is upright.

She writes about the crossover between brush lettering and pen lettering.
Hopefully you have the book or can get a copy somewhere - what she writes about this style is very interesting
and good advice for anyone who is keen on building a good foundation in lettering.

If you Google capitalis quadrata - you'll see several variations.
