This is great Cecilia!
And Google Chrome will translate it to English!

My mother would write exactly as the sample below, maybe even a little smaller, and she was born in '43 :) so she went to her primary school in the late 40's.
This thread is absolutely interesting! Thank you all for sharing your experience and knowledge!
PS: just for your reference, you can find some interesting examples http://blog.giofugatype.com/?p=2714 - it's available only in Italian, but images talk for themselves

Cecilia,

I had never seen the upright, lightly shaded script as shown in your Italian link. A while ago, I developed this script of my own, which is remarkably similar! I post it here, as it may be of interest.

It certainly can be confusing.
Not with your explanation. This is a great post, Harvey. Thank you.

Harvey isn't my name. Maybe that is a reference to the film of that name.

My sincere apologies.
I seemed to misidentified you you.
How do you wish to be addressed?

A while ago, I developed this script of my own ...

This had me scurrying off to Fairbank's "A Book of Scripts", and there it was: a plate from Vere Foster's "New Civil Service Copy-book".  Your miniscules share many of the features and are joined in a very similar way, yet the overall feel is elegant and refined whereas Foster's look frankly immature and laborious.  Fascinating how some seemingly minor differences (slightly longer looped descenders, moving the cross bar of the t down a trifle, getting rid of that hunchbacked double-looped f, a reduction in the space between the letters ... and so forth) can transform the appearance utterly.  I think this is splendid work, Ken.

Thank you for sharing Mr Fraser!
It's so nice! I absolutely agree with Andy, it's elegant and refined.

One thing that I've always wondered: why is there this habit of writing letter R in different shapes (meaning English and French) in the same sentence? Your first sentence has one and the following sentence has another r. Is there any particular reason? Or is it just depending on the calligrapher taste?

PS: Andy, I'm just jealous of your memory, is that a human or an alien super power that you have?  :o
