Chicago Skyline Script
« on: May 08, 2014, 01:21:43 PM »
We should find / develop a pointed pen style and call it Chicago Script to further confuse the newbies, and also just for the kicks.

You guys make me laugh!  LET'S DO IT.  Squared off loops on ascenders, like skyscrapers, and descenders like winding rivers!

Yup. I'm down. Will work on a sample tonight. Just what I needed while [not] studying for supplementals.

Love it!  Loving the clouds.  I've only been to Chicago once, and I mostly remember the skyline and the clouds :)

Looks like a smeared note for a friend made it into the shot.

We have to standardize this.

Let Chicago Script henceforth refer to a style of Copperplate where ascender loops are eradicated and all ascenders squared. The extent of the squaring is at the discretion of the penman. Other optional features include a replacement of curved connectors with straight ones.

This way one can make it look more proper if he/she wants.

If anyone wants a preamble, this was moved from the Kind Critique section.

Joi was confused about I typo that I made, comparing people's handwriting to a 'Chicago [skyline]'. She expressed that she thought that Chicago script might be a thing.

So we made it a thing.

Guys, please gently critique my Chicago Skyline Script. It's inspired by sunset, drunken Spencerian and modern calligraphy. I tried adding some bird flourishes, but they looked more like turd instead. I guess I should have used a shaper nib for those things. Unfortunately I only had a ballpoint in office... :P

Every time I think of this I laugh out loud!

I love your script! Great illustration!  :)
