Definitely RF. The crossbar on the second letter is the giveaway.  ;)

Actually, I have changed my mind, all Js with a cross bar I have seen have been some sort of blackletter. This looks like a Copperplate F with part broken off.

This looks like a Copperplate F with part broken off.

Yes.  It looks to me like the engraver was dealing with some space constraints so s/he couldn't fully extend the top of the F.  This is not a criticism, because it's a lovely ring, but I think perhaps that's where the confusion of F vs. J may lay.

Good points. I also believe an engraver would make an adjustment in terms of the extender on a J to distinguish it from another letter - even with the space constraints.
