Dip pen for drawing (Brause Rose)
« on: October 04, 2017, 09:28:46 AM »
Hello,

I am Marvin.
I am 31 years old and I live in Germany.

I started drawing with a Brause Rose.
I often use the upper side of the nib tip to draw very fine lines at the cost of losing the flexibility.
In the future I try to find out about alternatives to the Brause Rose.

This is a 100 g/m² DIN A4 paper with medium grain: http://www.daler-rowney.com/content/simply-hardback-books

Welcome!

I'm curious to learn more about artists' experiences with drawing with different nibs. I'm no artist myself, but I've been asked before about using dip nibs for pen and ink drawings and I don't have any real experience to share.

I look forward to learning from your explorations.

Andrew

A Belated Welcome Marvin!

Very nice illustration! I am curious about those using nibs to draw as well. Especially the Brause Rose as it is a very flexible, often finnicky nib, and not inexpensive. Have you tried any others?
Warm Regards,
Erica

Hello Marvin, you have mad drawing skills with the BR. I agree with Erica. I only love the Brause Rose because of the actual rose on the nib. Have you tried a Nikko G? I love to use that nib for drawing.
