Dropping membership

Is there a way of deleting one's account?

Thanks.

What do you expect from such a deletion?

Actually, that is a really good question.  I suppose I just don't like leaving loose ends when I move on in life, but it also removes temptation to re-engage too.  Great question, has made me think about a number of things that are going on right now. Thank you.

Sorry to see that you're thinking of leaving Dave...are you taking a break from calligraphy in general, or just talking about it on forums?

My skills are going nowhere, regardless of practice.

I guess that in all honesty I think this is the wrong art form for me.

Aw, that makes me sad but I understand.  :) I can deactivate your account but not delete it as then all of your posts would be deleted which creates gaps in the archived threads. Please respond here or send me a PM if you would like me to deactivate your account. Wishing you the best of luck and thank you for your contributions here.  :-*

Hold off for the moment, Erica. Rednaxela has given me much to think about, and Melanie made a very nice holder for me which I should try harder to use.

Dave, at the end of the day, you just have to do what makes you happy.

If you enjoy calligraphy then please carry on, even if you don't feel that you will ever be a 'Master' - there absolutely nothing wrong with just doing something for enjoyment's sake.

If on the other hand, you just feel frustrated all of the time, then maybe take a break for a while, and then, if you feel like it come back to it, maybe with a fresh outlook - that is, just to enjoy it.

Hey Dave,

What? No... Am I hearing this right?
I have really enjoyed all your post on this forum. The envelopes that you sent as exchange are so good.

I agree to what Melanie says.

The above example seems nice to me.
We are all on this journey of practice and expression.
I hope you find satisfaction in what you choose to pursue.

Don't give up! What about if you are almost there?
And you quit when you are almost there?

Plus you shouldn't compare your work to other people
do what makes you happy try to improve as much as you can
within your own capabilities, You are already better than other people
that are barely starting, so as ugly as you work may look to you
other people may look at your work in awe!

Don't let that dampen your love for calligraphy!

Hi Dave, I do hope you don't drop out of this forum. I personally have not only greatly enjoyed your posts, but always seem to learn something from them and the other replies.
Your writing skills always seems much better than mine,  but then I am too lazy to do enough practice. Besides which I am never satisfied with things I try to achieve as nothing short of perfection (in my skills)  is acceptable to me.
I am not a regular contributor to this forum but never-the-less I really enjoy reading of others views and experience. I have picked up calligraphy again after a 50 year break, and doubt I will ever achieve much in it in the time I have left, and I enjoy trying out different inks, nibs and papers, but I can't really explain the fascination.
Anyway Dave, I do hope you stick with it! Somehow it is quite comforting to know there is another Kiwi out there with a similar interest!
Kindest regards,Peter

Hi Peter.

Thanks for your encouragement, though I think it's quite the stretch of the imagination to say I've ever written anything of interest.

I've picked up the pen and am having another go at it, trying to drop expectations. Will see how that goes.

Oh, I'm only an honorary Kiwi at best (actually English, shh!).

cheers,

Dave

Hey Dave,
Yeah.... so happy to hear this. :D :D
Let us know if we all could be of any help to you. My 2 cents. May be you can upload your work in the kind critique section and we can all learn as well give feedback from it. May be videos will help so that its easier to give suggestions. I mean anything that would help with your progress. Im sure you have it in you and you will see the change you wanted to see.

Good luck, :D

Good Heavens! I wouldn't dream of uploading anything for critique.  It would be simply far too embarrassing.

Watching various videos, I can do that.
