Title: Hi from Hong Kong
Post by: BabeVivien on August 09, 2018, 11:16:54 PM
Hi All,

My name is Vivien and I am a marketing PA in a legal firm located in Hong Kong.  After I have a 3 hours calligraphy class in late June (provided by our firm social committee) and immediately I fell in love with calligraphy.  I used to write with Fountain Pen but after having a class on calligraphy, I found using dip pen writing will be more fun and the upstroke and downstroke makes the words look very beautiful.  I always envy people write so well and beautiful.

As I am new to calligraphy, I would like to see how I can improve my writing.  I learnt from Lindsey of the Postman's Knock that this forum is a good place to start which will provide all kind of information.  The first thing I would really need help is to find practising paper in reasonable cost.  I am using Canson XL Marker Layout Marcador paper pad now, please let me know if there is some other paper that I can use.  I know HP Premium laser paper is also a good choice but I couldn't find it in Hong Kong.  If this paper is good, I will order from Amazon (the shipping cost is double of what the paper cost).

Anyway, I am so glad to join this forum and to interact with all of you.

Vivien

Welcome to calligraphy and the Forum! Finding inexpensive paper to practice on can be a bit hit and miss, but I’ve had good luck with most laser papers. Currently, I’m using the copy paper from Daiso and you can get much cheaper than that! Hope you find something.

Welcome, Vivien!  Rhodia is also a great practice paper - less expensive than Canson Marker Layout, but obviously pricier than laser paper.
