Word Group 1 Practice

I do NOT know why "some" of my photo attachments are turned.  It is not like that on my device 🤷🏾?

It may have to do with the size of the file or how you held your phone when you took the picture? Not sure really.

The new exemplar is on the blog.
There is also a round version - that Hester is going to try.

These will be a quick check to decide what direction to go.
They are not intended for long term study.

The goal is to find a style you enjoy that will help to correct the bad habits that we all develop over the years
if we just let our penmanship evolve on its own.

I am really struggling with this.  I'm trying to mentally make the connection between writing like this and example that I shared above. 🤷🏾

Oh dear -- trying the new exercise with those slant lines --would make me dizzy, too.
I hope you stopped --
Wait until your notebook paper arrives.
Or if you have graph paper -- try the upright - zig zag on graph paper.

More later --

I did stop . . . finally!  Will try again on my Rhodia paper.  Will be days before my 5-Star arrives.  Don't want to lose that practice time.

Thank you.

I forgot about my Cursive Club blog -- so the next set of videos are at that blog.
I'll rethink how the penmanship tips are posted when I get back my studio in a couple weeks --
and regroup.

But - these videos might give a better idea of how to establish a rhythm.

Where shall I upload practice that you may want to see going forward?

Thanks, Jean.

Just send photos of your practice directly to me.
We can post some progress reports from time to time.
Over the years, there have been several people who wanted to work on their penmanship
but they usually didn't come back after the first lesson.
Lyric seems to have some persistency -- so we'll see how things go.
I don't want people to get the impression that the forum is turning into a penmanship group
and there are not a lot of other topics going on at the moment.

@lyric  I used Eleanor Winter's book on Copperplate, as if it were a text book.  I started in the beginning & worked my way to the end.  I learned Copperplate from it.  I highly recommend the book!  You can get it from Amazon or eBay!

Best of luck to you on your journey!

Thanks Janis!!

This thread though is talking about business penmanship or American cursive; i.e., everyday handwriting versus the drawing of calligraphy.

I did purchase Mrs. Winter's book last spring too (when I first began learning Copperplate).   ;)
