1860's Spencerian envelope with swan
« on: June 15, 2018, 11:01:48 AM »
Came upon this and liked it for the writing and the swan. The stamp is a "Black Jack" Andrew Jackson stamp issued from 1863-1869 which helps date the envelope. Unfortunately, the envelope is empty.

Nice. Early Spencerian.
The Townsend School was a Presbyterian Sunday school, I believe, started in the early 1860's.
