Silly factoid: I'm told that serviceable papyrus can be made from rhubarb.  Having been brought up on the stuff I prefer mine with a generous libation of custard, but each to their own.
@AndyT
You were brought up on papyrus? And prefer custard with it? Sounds messy.

Hmm - I don't know if these are necessarily my "best" pieces, but I certainly look at them with fondness. I framed the white ink piece (this was done after I took a most wonderful weekend workshop with Master Penman John DeCollibus) and it sits on my desk where I can see it every day.
@silverswirlstudios
Very nice indeed.
Was DeCollibus in NM or did you go to the Boston area for the workshop? I'm a big fan of DeCollibus. Have you seen the video of him doing a flourish with both hands at once?

The other piece is just descriptive of other lettering styles I like to do. Always a work in progress, and I will be a lifelong student!
That's a great attitude.
I like the stippling in this piece, but rarely have the patience to make all those dots myself.

@AnasaziWrites I traveled to Boston just to take a class with him. He is one of my pen heroes for sure!
I love all of his videos. Did you know his son-in-law does all of the filming? John is a great teacher and quite funny, too.  :D

No, no - you misunderstand.  The business of bashing the rhubarb with a mallet until it's flat is new to me ... in my youth it was customary to stew it in its own juices until it gave up the fight, and then drown it in custard.  You might reasonably ask why one would bother, but it's amazing what you can develop a taste for given long enough exposure.

I think that the letter F is particularly beautiful - especially in Copperplate or Spencerian.
I was happy with the way these Copperplate variations merged on the page.

Very nice F's. Especially nice arrangement--asymmetric giving it movement and nicely balanced. Good eye.

The two projects I am showing are for the same person. This gentleman come to me, very young, wife is pregnant  and her birthday is on Mother's day.... " Gona get some Brownie points for this one".  So he gave me the lyrics to this song.... wanted it in calligraphy... and yes I did put the musician who wrote its name.... Brad Heath?

So I completed it today and with the help of a very good friend got it matted. Yea Beth!

But I'm thinking.... he needs a card... so being in the mood to paint , I created a card to go with the gift for the little woman.... er maybe humongous woman by now.

Thank you for your comments. I was pretty proud of the large piece. She won't receive it till mothers day ( her birthday, and mine consequently).
blessings to all!

@InkyFingers
That, my friend, may be the finest post you have ever made, in my most humble opinion.
Thank you.
