Title: Fountain pens
Post by: RickFromMaine on March 04, 2018, 09:39:27 PM
 Hello Erica,

I have been practicing with the Hiro 41 and love it. However, I discovered I have an old Skyline Eversharp fountain pen with a very nice flex nib which makes the same letters as you’re teaching. While I will continue from time-to-time to practice with the Hiro 41 and other pointed nibs, is it OK that I am learning to letter also with this fountain pen, which will be a daily writer; and, it is nice to be able to make those letters at work without the mess of a dip pen and a bottle of ink.

Hi Rick,
Yes, definitely it's OK. It would be like using any other different nib. As you learn and go, you can try out different nibs and get a feel for how each one responds. You will learn to adjust your hand and pressure accordingly. How cool you have a fountain pen that allows you to do copperplate!  ;D

Lucky you...those things are treasures. Especially ones with flexy nibs.
