Dr. J. Vitolo
« on: January 19, 2017, 06:18:45 AM »
I follow many writers on Instagram. For a couple of time Dr. J. Vitolo (drjmvitolo) writes very clear letters with fountain pen.  I was copying it with a fountain pen but do not know which kind of writing this is.  Does anyone knows the name of this type of writing.  The photo is my copying with words that do not mean much :)
Bye

Joe Vitolo has a wonderful, free, eBook that is available here.
http://www.zanerian.com/

You can either download the book or view all the information on your computer
and watch the videos on YouTube

I used to be vigilant about adding this resource to every newcomer who was starting out,
but have been distracted with a number of things....
I need to remember to keep adding this option into the mix - as it is excellent information.

It looks like Business Writing to me.
If you are interested, there is a book available for download here:

It appears to be Dr Vitolo's personal take on American business writing, which has many features in common with Palmer Method, but also with some earlier models.  All these styles ultimately derive from Spencerian and were intended to be written rapidly whilst maintaining good legibility and consistency.  There are many different textbooks to choose from in addition to the ones mentioned previously, and which one to go for is entirely a matter of personal taste.  I like Henry Behrensmeyer's explicitly Spencerian flavoured style for its old-timey feel and elegance, but other people might prefer the breezier simplicity of Palmer or Mary Champion, say.  Probably the easiest way to get a feel for the variants is to have a rummage around in the rare books section at IAMPETH and apply the "business handwriting" filter.

Hmm ... actually, scratch that last bit.  I just tried it and got peculiar results!  Follow your nose - it should be fairly obvious which books are likely to be relevant from the full list.  :)

Is there any way to use the Ebook if you do not have the Apple IPad but use Microsoft?

@marilyns I do not believe that there is for this particular eBook - I tried it. For iBooks in ePub format and without DRM there are windows apps that will let you read them. this particular book does not fit that description though. Of course, others will chime in if they had success with this.
Kindest Regards,
Brad

If you are referring to Dr. Vitolo's, ebook, There isn't Marilyn.

But he has made the entire thing into a pdf too. It will not have the videos like the ebook, but has all the other info.  You will have to view the videos on his youtube channel or this link

This is American Cursive Penmanship which derives from Business Writing.

There are many examples on DR Joe Vitolo's Instagram page. Scroll down and you will find the actual wording "American Cursive Penmanship.

Hi Karl,

Thanks for posting this. And this looks fabulous.
I do follow Dr. Vitolo's IG and youtube videos & IAMPETH. Infact I was thinking to practice the script that you had posted. Let me try when I would get time to do that :(
