Walnut ink practice
« on: March 01, 2017, 10:13:40 AM »
I am loving the walnut ink, love the variations in shade, and also the feel, I didn't get to messy mixing it, which is a Bonus, and Andy T thank you for the ratio advice and everything, I think I have mixed it correctly.
I found two things, firstly make sure your nib is correctly primed, ot the ink slips off, plus you dip more often, but neither are an issue, and I have enough ink to be going on with.
Oh also it shows up flaws in my script which is what I wanted, so this means now I can look at those and correct them.
so here is my walnut ink practice, warts and all....
I will keep this, then check back after a week of writing to see if I have managed to correct my issues.
Have a great day  :)

The walnut Ink Virus...
I got it from @prasad :D. And its really addictive. I have even filled all my 5 pilot parallel pens with walnut Ink. And they work really well.

Beautifully written and nice quote.

Thank you Ashok, yes I blame you all for my walnut ink obsession.
I do love sparkly ink, but noticed that I used lots of it, plus the sparkles sort of distract the eye from the flaws, so I'm working on those.
It will be interesting to see what my engrossers script is like after a year's practice  :)

That came as a sweet surprise Sarah :D :D as the obsession is because of me.
Sorry not able to recall any past conversation. Enjoy your obsession.

Sorry Ashok, I think I could of said that better, I meant that all of you talk about walnut ink so passionately on different threads that I had to try some for myself.
This forum has influential powers of persuasion, and leads members astray ha ha  :)

@ash0kgiri  can I ask, do you find the walnut ink, kills nibs faster than normal ink, or have I just written a lot, I can't work out which ha ha ?  :)

@Tales from the Nib, I don't think so. Infact I found them quite gentle on nibs as compared to Sumi and Iron Gall. Don't forget to clean your nibs after you finish writing.

Thank you Ashok, I killed my nib in 3days, yes I do practice a lot, it kept pulling my paper fibres, I must admit I have written around 10 A4 pages with the same nib, so it could be the amount rather than the ink  :)
