Spencerian guidelines
« on: January 31, 2014, 09:46:49 AM »
Hi,
I've made some Spencerian guidelines for my own practice, and thought maybe they can be helpful for other people.

2, 3, 4 and 6mm x-heights, 52º slant.

Cheers,
 Martín

Hi Martin and Estefa,
I've never seen guide lines with that red slant.  Might you show a written sample of how that is used?

love,
Roseann

Hi Roseann,  the red lines indicate the slant of the joins between letters. They help with the spacing and flow of the writing.
I don't write directly over the guidelines (I just use them under my sheet) so I don't have a direct example, but if you look at this one:

You'll notice that the joins between letters are not on the main slant, but are lower. That's what the red lines are for.

Have fun!
Cheers,
 Martín

Thank you Martin!! Spencerian is new for me and I'm having to get used to writing with the two different slants. This is incredibly helpful. I really appreciate your sharing it!!

Cheers.

Thanks for sharing Martin, and also for explaining the red lines, I learned something.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!  I have just started with Spencerian and was having a heck of a time with the connecting slant.  These just might do the trick.  I appreciate you sharing these with us.
