Disappearing Unread Posts?
« on: December 20, 2016, 01:39:30 AM »
Does anyone else experience disappearing unread posts?  Example from tonight:  I clicked "Show unread posts since last visit" and it gave me six threads (because, previously, the other 15-or-so disappeared).  I selected one, came back to "unread", and there were two remaining, which does not work out, mathematically.  Other times it's happened with over a page of unread posts.

Occasionally when this happens, if I've been very active on the forum, it'll show no unread posts, but then it'll show, say, five under "Show new replies to your posts."

No, I am not accidentally clicking "mark all as read" or forgetting if I've intentionally click that.

Anyone else?

That same thing happens to me, but I always supposed that as it says "since last visit" it would only show the new unread posts in that time, had I read the previous ones or not.

So, if I click on a thread in the "unread posts" list, and then want to go back to the list that I was at before, it's likely to be gone because I had visited that portion of the site already- even if just one minute before?  I recall being able to go back until I'd read every last one, if I chose.  And even still, sometimes, like this morning, it works fine and I can go back to read everything of interest, but other times it's like "too bad, you missed your chance!"

Oh well.  I thought maybe I was missing something.   :o

HI Bianca,
This happened to me a couple of times,
So what I do is first open the page with unread posts,  then open all the ones I want to read in separate tabs.

The main page with the unread posts still remains as is,  I can always go back to it and see the full list (even the ones I read already)

Make sense?? :)

Hmm...  I will look into this problem. In the meantime, thank you Prasad for that work around.  :)

Oh, goodness, Erica, I do NOT mean to add to your to-do list!!!   :-[

Prasad, I've tried opening them up in separate tabs one at a time to avoid this (close out of tab, go back to tab with list), and inevitably, I forget and just click in-tab or close out of something I shouldn't.  BUT, if I open them all at the same time, that will work great!  Thank you!
