'Tis the Season - Let's See Your Work
« on: November 28, 2017, 12:45:14 AM »
In the spirit of the upcoming holidays, have any of you utilized your calligraphy and hand-lettering skills to create a gift for someone? If you have, please share pictures if you have them!

This is my first Christmas season that I have had the "calligraphy bug", so I have nothing to show in terms of gifts that I have created...yet!

I usually use it in wrapping gifts more than anything. Here's a sample of what I did last year.

I posted the page I made for my dad a little while ago, but here's the gift I made for my mom. I can obviously already see all my mistakes, but I know I'll keep improving with practice!

With my graduate school work I haven't had time to pick up the pen recently, I'm going to try to get back to practicing.

ETA: Because I know I'm always curious when people post: the lyrics are the final chorus of "The Mary-Ellen Carter" by Stan Rogers. The paper is Strathmore parchment and the ink was J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor mixed with a few drops of gum Arabic. Nib was a Brause 66ef, which I think is my new favorite!

And my mom loved it. :)

She'll love it. Beautiful sentiment.
