Hi all,

I am new around here and wow! There is so much to read, learn, and catch up with! Very happy to be here! I have done calligraphy on and off for a few years. But have not been super consistent with practicing. Since May I have started being consistent, practicing every day. Mainly I do a word a day with either brush and ink, broad tip markers like Crayola, watercolor and a brush, or the Tombow brush markers. I would like to learn more with the pointed nib but I have many problems. It gets stuck on me or on the paper. Therefore, I have stayed away from practicing with it. I am hoping to learn tips, tricks, but more importantly proper form. I live in Mobile, AL and there are no classes around here or close by.

Hi Alma!
There is a town on the Mississippi River in Wisconsin called Alma.  Your very own quaint, little town.
I think that there are some other pointed pen people in Mobile; perhaps you could ask around.  Or, if you are a member of Iampeth, check out the member list to find them.

Welcome.  Which pointed nib did you try?  That can have a lot to do with how much it snags.  The paper can, too.  Erica's recommended products could help you with that a lot: http://theflourishforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=434.0
