I have never tried to Old World. I'll have to give it a try. Although at the rate it's eating your nibs maybe not!

I really like the grayish black of the McCaffery's and how it darkens to black afterwards. I read somewhere that if it gums up and molds, it's a bad batch. I have had bottles for years that haven't done that. But it's the newer bottles that are corroding nibs so fast.

The colored McCaffery's are GREAT! The indigo blue is my favorite!

Thanks Wendy! Once you learn the basics, it's not too bad. But it really is a shoulder movement versus a hand movement. Also, it takes memorizing the flourish shapes too so they can be formed properly.

I copy some of the flourishes out of The Universal Penman and just practice over and over again.

At some point much further down the line, I may do a flourish online workshop somehow!

Show & Tell / Handmade Thanksgiving placemats

I had so much fun doing this last night! I couldn't actually use a pointed pen as the ink would bleed on the kraft paper. So I had to draw the flourishes with a fine point Sharpie. (How did we ever live before Sharpies?!)



OK, I am procrastinating cleaning. I work better under pressure anyway!
