« on: December 29, 2015, 09:30:20 PM »
So the new edition of the Speedball Textbook is available.  Has anyone checked it out?  What is new?  Worth buying?

Thanks for bringing it up.  I didn't even know it existed.  Because you mentioned it, I found things like this cool 1941 edition online http://www.printmag.com/design-inspiration/the-speedball-textbook/.

Ellen, I ordered it from JNB & got notice that they were delayed in shipping it.  I'll report back once I finally receive it!

Please do. I owned a 21st edition (mid-eighties), which is what I used to teach myself calligraphy. Having long since misplaced it, I would be interested in replacing it with the new edition if it's worth it.

I got the new Speedball Textbook from John Neal Books and I like it very much.

Some features:
     Spiral binding
     Glossy thick paper
     color printing
includes work by Kecseg, Crittenden, Held, Gautl, Weidmann, Sull, Waters, Takahashi & many more
includes info on broad pen, pointed pen, brush, layout & design, contemporary, decorative, etc.

Whether someone else likes it as much will depend on what they are looking for, their experience, etc.
