Lori, beautiful work! I agree with Erica... I like the last version with the heavier border the best. It turns it into a unit and it has weight.
If you want the emphasis on just the calligraphy itself, then you don't need the border, however, if you want this to be more of a logo, then the border ties it all together nicely. It reminds me of an old wax seal. Love it!
