I made some cards for Mother's Day and thought that I'd share. I'm usually pretty bad with the cards, making them at the very last minute and sometimes the ink is barely dry before going in the envelopes (oops!). Glad I took some time to make them a few days earlier this year.

Amazing what white ink on color cards can do! Super simple, yet pretty.
Ink: Dr. Ph. Martin's Bleedproof White
Nib: Brause EF66
Thanks for looking! :D

I love it Linda. And I love the simplicity too. Often times we overthink it when really the simple is the most beautiful.
-
REALLY love it.

Thanks Nickki and Daisy! I hope the moms will like them too!

Awesome job Linda :) Love the white on those colors.
-
Wonderful! So springy and fun! Nice use of space too!

Thanks Heebs - there's just something about white ink isn't it. It really makes the letters pop.
Starlee, thank you so much. I very lightly sketched out the piece with a white charcoal pencil first, inked the piece, and erased the pencil marks with a kneaded eraser after the ink dried.

So happy! I love the flourishes!

These are so beautiful!

Linda, Thanks for sharing the process of how you made these. I love hearing from others what their process is. I also am impressed with the layout!

so so pretty!!! i especially like the way you wrote the numbers...very old-school classic :)

Thank you Roseann <3 This is about as "flourish-y" as I am able to get... anything more complicated, I lose the shapes and they turn into a mess :-\
Thanks Moya, I had fun making them!
Suzie, I think Stefanie mentioned this on another thread - I have a graphic design background too so I tend to "plan" things out rather than just "make things happen." Maybe 30 years from now I will be able to! ;D
Many thanks, Patweecia!

These are really beautiful Linda. Simple but sweet design. :) Thank you for sharing with us!!
-
I also love them, Linda – these 'heart flourishes' in the descenders are so sweet :)! And also the puristic, clear colors!

Linda, I know I'm late on the bandwagon, but I was just reading through some old posts and stumbled upon this...you have a gift!!! I am in awe of all the different "hands" you're able to write in, bravo!!!! (if I were to get something like this for mother's day, I would seriously cry.)

Hehe, thanks for digging this up Sarah. I love to try different scripts and have fun with them, but I end up being a "scribe of all trades, master of none!" I know the basics of about 7(?) different calligraphy styles, but barely scratched the surface on ANY of them. I have to stop learning new scripts and really refine the ones I know. It's gonna take YEARS :-[
And belated "thank you" to Erica & Stefanie <3

I am afflicted by the same disease! I was more of a broad edge fan, but after 33 yrs discovered pointed pen work about six months ago. Honestly, I thought pointed pen was above my skill level (I find it more difficult to do well, than any other hand I have tried.) but... It has me captivated and I will persevere.

Yessir! Here's to a lifetime of learning for all of us. This is why I love calligraphy - we never stop learning :D
