Tools & Supplies / Folded Pen nibs -- Cleaning?

So, I know this forum is mostly pointed pen, but was wondering if anyone else is a "folded pen freak" such as myself?  I have 2 store-bought brass nibs from Paper & Ink, and sometimes, I just feel as though the ink does not flow as nicely through them, no matter how much I've cleaned them, etc.

I've tried spit (yes, gross, I know), lighter flame, Windex, pen cleaner, toothbrush... I don't know what else to use and it's frustrating me. The ink will flow ok from the wide part, but if I angle it up to make a think line, it either doesn't flow out/skips or comes out too much.

Just fyi, they're a few years old.

Thank you both! I love my folded pens (when they work!) I was happy with how this one turned out.

Tried to emulate his work. Ruling Writer, Walnut Ink and some drop-in colors. (not liking the "m" though)

So, I haven't been on here for quite a while, but a friend encouraged me to re-log on. Came across this post and decided to share my Holiday Greeting from last year (C'mas in July?)   

Used a folded pen and india ink.

Will members be given a warning before they are deleted? (ex/ let's say life gets busy and one doesn't have time or forgets, etc. to log on and be active -- will there be any message sent to the member or will they just be automatically deleted?)

Introductions / Hello! and Thank You!

Hi, Just joined today -- thanks so much for adding me!

I've been doing calligraphy & lettering on & off for over 25 years -- just a fun hobby for me. I've recently gotten back into envelope exchanges, which I've done before, but haven't done in over 5 years.    So, I'm super thrilled that I've found a few exchanges online as well as this forum!

Although I know many hands/alpha's, I love drawn letters (and fun fonts), Ruling Writer, brush lettering and abstract art. (also a fan of uncial and fun foundational) Have just recently picked up my pointed pen again. Just wish I had more patience with it! 

I also started a blog to share my work, just for fun. It's https://lovemesomeart.blogspot.com/  -- Name's not the best, but couldn't think of anything real clever when I created it (or anything I did think of was already taken!)

Anyway, Looking forward to exchanging! Not sure I'll have time to sign up for the Valentine one, this time around.
