@Natalie419 glad you enjoyed it! I'd love to compile some kind of list of what we all call our grandparents. It would be epic.

oh yes @ash0kgiri! I've been working on my Spencerian, and your recipe is now one of my exemplars. Beautiful.

@Hend e! What are you taking? So many amazing classes this spring, I wish I could take them all! I am signed up for Embossing, Fraktur (with Paul Shaw!), Italic Variations and Spencierian with Harvest Crittendon!! A very exciting semester indeed. I hope to see you at a class!

oh I know he struggle! When I started out, I had a 2 and 5 year old. I definitely had to leave the house to get anything done during the day. Lucky me, my MIL would come occasional afternoons and I'd pack up my box of ink and nibs and my practice pad and go sit in the library for a few hours. Then after bed time, the 8pm to 12am shift has always been very productive for me, though not great for my sleep habits! But when my daughter was learning to write she would sit quietly with me and practice her writing, usually while little brother was napping.  In general though- nothing gets done while kids are around! NOTHING.  :o

@Starlee and @jeanwilson I am so glad to  know I am not alone! Sometimes I'm not sure where to invest my money, as you mentioned @Starlee. I take as many classes as my budget allows, so lots of other supplies go wanting. I am a minimalist at heart and live in a small space, so it has to be super important to add anything.

thanks @miimu for reviving this thread! Its hilarious!
This is my major confession: I have 3 holders. I have been doing broad pen FOREVER (like 20 plus years with serious years long breaks) with the same holder . Then when I started pointed pen 5 years ago I bought a cheap plastic holder. Then a nicer (but not terribly expensive) wooden turned holder with an adjustable flange that I have been using regularly for 4 1/2 years. No other holders. Most calligraphers I know have So. Many. Holders.  It just doesn't interest me.  Am I weird?

@Starlee I thought I would never love broad pen the way I do pointed. But boy oh boy do I love it! Jump in! It is the same and different, more beautiful in many ways. More frustrating in many more. But very very satisfying when you get the flow. Enjoy!
