A great question which I'm sure many might have as forums by nature are sometimes confusing until you figure out how the organization works. I tried really hard to organize Flourish and keep on topic within each thread. You may have noticed, I move threads sometimes to make sure they stay on topic.
Anyway, in terms of not missing anything there are a couple ways to do this!
1. When you first come into the forum, just under your "Hello member" in the upper left corner, there are two links:
- "Show unread posts since last visit."
- "Show new replies to your posts."

If you click on the first one, you can see a list of all the new posts since you last visited. Hooray!
2. When you are posting or replying to a thread, click on the "Attachments and other Options" just under the white box where you write your message and click the "Notify me of Replies" box.

3. Finally, go to any board you want and once inside the board, click on the button "notify" (2nd from right). This will sign you up to receive email notifications of all new posts in that board. I have done this for every board so I never miss a post.

4. When you first get to the forum, at the main page, if you scroll down and look just to the left of the category titles, there is a little slip of paper icon. It is typically grayed out if there aren't any new posts in that category. If there is a post you haven't seen yet, it is white with lines added to the paper to make it stand out. You then know there are new topics or posts.

Once you go inside the category, you can see an orange "new" icon next to the new threads or those with new replies.

The pink highlights are topics that I have "stickied" so they stay at the top of that board. ;)

Thanks so much, Erica. I was feeling a little overwhelmed by how to stay on top of what was happening in the forum, and excited that I can get it delivered straight to my inbox. Looking forward to being a more active member now. x

Hi Charissa,
The karma button is for when people want to thank a member for their contribution to the forum, answering a question, sharing their knowledge, etc. There is also a "like" button which is located in the upper right part of a post, next to "quote."
The membergroup title is based on post counts. So everyone starts as a newbie. They go up automatically with their post count:
0-50 posts = Newbie
50 posts = Junior Member
100 posts = Full Member
250 posts = Senior Member
500 posts = Hero Member
1,000 posts or more = Super Hero Member

Also, I have something to add to "Where do I go first?" My tip: the shower. Because I've been sitting here with my workout video all ready to go, and three hours later I'm still in my pj's. And if there are any other folks out there that are as compulsive as me, they might want to actually, you know, GET READY before just diving head-first into the videos. Just a thought. ;)

We also now have a "Super Hero" member which is achieved after 1000 posts.
I love that there is a Cyndi H and a Cindy H and you both posted after each other! :)

Hey,
I really appreciate your effort to expalain karma in so much detail. I wish and try not to miss anything great posted on this forum as well as try to give as much input as I can true to the best of my knowledge.I am greatful to you for providing this platform for the newbie calligraphers like me.
