Hi Erica,
DO we post the stuff we receive?
or
the stuff we made after it has been received?

I'm pretty sure everyone has received this card, so I'll post it.

Janice of List 7 asked us to post her cards, each with a different step to make pina cloth.  When all cards have been received, we will be ready to make cloth!  Be where do we get the pina (pineapple) leaves?

Any way, here is step 1:

So glad you got it, Ellen! Keeping my fingers crossed for the others to make it safely across the world. Maybe our penfriends in the Philippines can source the leaves. :)

Oh wow??? Really??? I had no idea you could make cloth from piña leaves  :o :o :o I was just as far as making piña colada cocktail and drink it inside the pinneaple itself! But, cloth??? Amazing!

I eat a lot of pinneaple and always throw away the leaves! Seems quite difficult, but keep posing... we'll see...  ;D

Judy, I'm familiar with the fantastic barong designs, but WOW, your dress!! Every time I see something made out of piña, my jaw drops. Thanks for sharing these, truly!

--

I should add (some context for those not in my group), I'm a Filipino-American living in D.C. In honor of Philippines Independence Day, the Embassy of the Philippines in D.C. held a gala event honoring the fashion designer Patis Tesoro and her work championing the piña cloth as a national and cultural symbol of the country. I attended her lecture where she spoke about the painstaking process of extracting the fibers to make this prized cloth. I was so blown away by the artisanal and completely handmade tradition of the cloth, that I felt compelled to share.

Thanks to my group for their patience!

I cant believe that is made from pineapple leaves!  People were so creative centuries ago to have discovered  this process.
