Haha … very funny you all … I don't care much about all this, so – I'm 44. I am not sure if it was a character in a Margaret Atwood novel who said as a lady of about 60 that she felt like pretending to be an adult … that's how I feel sometimes too .

I think with calligraphy, we are always learning new things - working on that perfect connetion between nib, pen, hand, arm, and all the stuff in the brain - and we never stop learning. That keeps us all young - at heart, anyway!

But, you're a damn fool if you think I'm going to tell you my age.  Or my weight!  I lie like a dog about both of those!

Last summer, I was in court and the bailiff strolled over to me and showed me the docket sheet for the day.  Right below my name was the name of my son, who is a young lawyer.  The bailiff asked me, "Do you know who that is?".  I said, "Yes.  That's my son."  He said, "You're not old enough to have a son who is practicing law."  I replied, "I had my kids when I was in middle school.  Please tell everyone that fact!"  This is totally untrue, as I was out of law school before I had my children, but if I can shave a decade or so off my true age, and get people to believe it, what's wrong with a little white lie?  I'm just sayin'....

I'm telling everyone my age freely ... for the next three weeks precisely.  Because in three weeks, I turn 30, and once that happens I'm going to pretend I don't have an age any more.  I was born with the clouds where the cold westerly wind comes from, and I am as old as the earth and as young as each new day ...

But for the moment, I'm 29

I've just been wondering. In my head, people are always the same age as me and I'm often surprised at how young or old they are, haha
