Procreate journey begins
« on: December 25, 2023, 03:07:32 PM »
Hello all, so I started using Procreate this year.
I was very happy to watch the IAMPETH demo that Molly Suber Thorpe did. (I hope to overview the 2023 virtual demos in another thread.)
I won’t go into detail today about the process and my thoughts, it’s Christmas! But I will post the best result I’ve done so far. And it’s a holiday message. (I did this in drafts and this is the “final.” Not because I think it’s without fault, but because I needed a break.)

Yes! It looks great! Once you get the “swing” of it, you will develop a rhythm. This looks great!

I drew this “R” and foliage accents in Procreate. I followed along with the “Digital Drop Caps” video that Gia Graham did for IAMPETH Virtual.
Of course professionals make it look easy. It takes some time to get used to drawing on the screen, using a digital pencil, and maneuvering the controls, but I liked the experience overall. I am pretty pleased with how it came out.

This came out great! Love Gia’s work. I saw her awesome tutorials. I think she has a Patreon as well. It really does take some getting used to - the screen versus paper, the glide of the pen, how the pen responds to pressure. It’s a whole new tool. But it looks like you are getting the hang of it fast.

Do you use the “PaperLike” screen protector? That made a big difference for me. It gives a nice resist so it feels more like paper than a screen.
Warm Regards,

Thanks!
You know, I don’t have any protector over the screen. I’m afraid I’ll put it on wrong, like have a bump or air bubble or something. I’ll look into it more though. I know some prefer with and some without.
