Within the past few months, Facebook connected FB and IG accounts via matching phone number instead of just email address. I had used separate email addresses on the two platforms for the reason that I don't follow anybody I know in real life on IG. I use IG more of like a pinterest -- an inspiration board. But once the company linked the two via phone number, IRL people started creeping into my IG world. So I've pretty much dumped it.

Coffee & Nib-bles / Earn your chair time
« on: June 24, 2016, 05:11:32 PM »
Next Friday (7/1), we'll officially be half-way through the year. YIKES! Time is flying. Ever since I picked up a calligraphy pen last December, my fitness has fallen a bit by the wayside (waist-side, ugh). Anyone else need a kick in the pants? From now until my birthday (end of July), I'm not allowed to pick up my pen unless I've broke a sweat or said "namaste" after getting bendy. That should be enough time to help me get back into a routine. And I desperately want to pick up my pen! Obvs, this idea wouldn't work for a pro, but maybe some other hobbyist like myself. Wanna join me and report in on Fridays for accountability for the next month?

Flourish Forum News / Re: Please read regarding emails!

Just went out and my car battery is dead... third time ... in the less than a year since we bought it brand new.

Seriously ... does someone know a spell I can say, séance I can do, *something* to turn this around. (I've already smudged the house - you'd be superstitious, too if you were me.) I'm a pretty positive person but I'm ready to crawl in a hole.  :'(

This is indicative of a leak in a circuit. :(

Imagine how bored you'd be without all this excitement! (NOT!!)

Completed/Past Exchanges / Re: SHARE A PHOTO OF YOUR EXCHANGE!
« on: June 13, 2016, 06:04:31 PM »
I installed some tackboards right above my desk -- after each exchange, I have a whole new theme decorating my "studio"! It's so fun to have it changing all the time. These are my Birds, Bees, Flowers & Trees (plus some other stuff), soon to be replaced with Flight of the Feathers '16.

(Sorry for bad photo of the actual envelopes/cards, but thought this might give someone else a fun idea):

I have a hunch that it's because you have a new internet provider, perhaps, at your new place? Check the outgoing server settings for your email addresses and see if they need to be changed to match your new provider.

Cut the lines out of one of the versions and try rearranging them i different ways on a blank sheet to find something that is pleasing.

Spencerian Script / Re: New to Spencerian and full of questions
« on: May 14, 2016, 02:58:04 PM »
Caught Paul Antonio's scope the other day from his Spencerian class, and he recommended to them the Hunt 22B since it is a stiffer nib and requires more pressure for shading.

I've designed my generator for broad-edge scripts but, it could be abused in many ways.

In guidelines section set:
  • Nib width to 1 (mm)
  • Change lines to:
    • 10 above baseline, plain
    • 5 above baseline, plain
    • baseline, plain
    • 5 below baseline, plain (enter it as -5)
  • delete unneded guide lines.

Modify slant line
  • Set angle to 0 degrees
  • Set distance to 5 nib widths

Modify nib guide
  • Set angle to 55 degrees
  • Set distance to your preferred distance between guidelines

Adjust line widths too your preferences.

For your information:
Slant line angle is angle between (imaginary) vertical line and slant line.
Nib angle line is between horizontal guidelines and nib angle line.

This is awesome! Link in case anyone missed it: http://liniuszek.prv.pl
