Sticking My Head Out For the First Time!
« on: May 18, 2021, 02:19:08 PM »
Hi there! Long time lurker, first time poster!

I started modern calligraphy in 2016 just as a hmmm I wonder if I could do that? And I was hooked! (I wouldnt say I could do it but I was having a lot of fun figuring it out.) In 2019 I started studying Copperplate by reading Eleanor Winters book and found that I absolutely loved learning the technical aspects of more traditional scripts.  Ive begun learning Spencerian this year and am enjoying that as well.  I mainly do calligraphy for fun and to make cards for family and friends. I joined the forum to participate in exchanges and to have people to bounce ideas off of/learn from.  Im nervous to share my work with others but Id love to get to know people in the calligraphy world!

Have a great day! Nice to meet you all!

Gen

Hi Gen,
So glad you posted! Its always fun to hear about how others got bit by the calligraphy bug. Its like the book when you give a mouse a cookie, hell want some milk to go with it. So when you learn Copperplate, you surely want to start learning Spencerian!  ;D

Looking forward to you joining in on the exchanges! Its really a delight to receive all the different envelopes and dont worry - we have a full range of skill levels.

Welcome to Flourish!  :)

Hi Gen,

Welcome to posting! ;) Don't be nervous to share your work -  having people review it and asking for help is a great way to improve.  There is no judgement here, only enthusiastic help!
