Modifying nibs…
« on: February 10, 2022, 12:36:07 PM »
Esteemed community,

I have a question to put before you. Have any of you modified your nibs?

An example I can give is sharpening the tip for a thinner hairline. I personally do this for my hunt 101’s as they have a blunter tip than other nibs. I have also sharpened (very delicately) a few LPEF’s.

Do you also do this? Has the thought ever come to you?

I have a small square of extra extra fine sandpaper for exactly this purpose I keep in my desk. Ive also found I can get more time out of a nib (for practice) but doing it.

Some folks modify their broad edge pens/parallel pens to add a different flair. I dont know much about that. Ive only recently started dabbeling in Textura and Im no where near ready to modify my tools!  :P

A guild member taught me the sandpaper trick!

I have done it for broad nibs (gives a nice crisp edge) but have not been successful trying it with pointed nibs. I will have to give it another try.  :)
