Birthday Exchange

since we're all still "on a high" with the summer exchange...why don't we have a birthday exchange?  maybe we can have a list of all our birthdays, and then send cards to all celebrants who will celebrate their birthdays on a certain month?

 what do you guys think?

hi peeps, for those wanting to join the birthday list...here are the instructions from natascha @sisterofdream:

• Email [email protected]

that you want to join.  She'll send you a link to the Google Doc she created for the birthday list.

• Update the birthday list and other details on the doc.

You might have to check the bday list once in a while to see if there are additional peeps who added their birthdays.

My thinking is that perhaps we have a shared list that we can all access - say hosted on Google Docs or something?  Or maybe a section of the Closed Flourish where we all list our birthdays, and then each month, addresses can be exchanged by PM, perhaps.

This is a fantastic idea!!  I LOVE this!

If we did a Google doc, that would take the pressure off the organizer to manage the list all of the time.  I think there does need to be an organizer who can divide the list into smaller groups, though.  For example, if we had 30 people born in August, I don't know that I could send that many cards, and I definitely couldn't do that many on top of another exchange, like the summer exchange.  But if the list were divided into groups of 4-6 people, I think that's reliably manageable.  I think most people could probably send that many per month?

But we'd have access to the Google doc, so we could send to everyone that month if we wanted to and had the time.

Count me in if the number in any given month isn't too much to take on!

if we host it on google docs, can anyone (who will be participating) still edit the existing list already (and not just make a new submission every time)?  sorry, if my question doesn't make sense...im a noob when it comes to google docs

We could make it so that it can be edited by anyone who has the invitation!

I guess my concern with Google Docs is privacy of people's addresses ... I'm not sure how to get around that, though. I mean, we will have to give out addresses if we want cards!

Great idea! I'm interested.

Would it be possible for only the people interested in sending a card to get the addresses somehow? There is a tab above that says Calendar and some people's birthdays are already listed. What if those interested in sending a birthday card simply message the people of that month they want to send to for their address? That way we're aware of who is getting our addresses and are in control of who we give it to.

But would that be too complicated? Organization is not exactly my strong suit.
