I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to member AnasaziWrites (Mike Moore) who has gifted me this page from the c.1743 edition of "The Universal Penman".
He knows that this page is my favourite example of Calligraphy, bar none.

Some time ago, there was a discussion about the printed quality of the later versions of this book, of which I have a 1948 copy. I argued that it was perfect and couldn't get any better. I now freely admit that I was wrong. This 1743 example is quite incredible in its finesse, and is very beautiful.

This example of the engraving by George Bickham from the writing by Willington Clark, has been for me, for the past 50 years or so, the absolute epitome of beautiful calligraphy.

At my time of life, I never expected to see an original version and I am extremely grateful to Mike for thinking of me.

I have collected many fine examples of calligraphy over the years, but this page, now framed, hangs alone on the wall in my studio!

As time goes by and we age, sooner or later we realize that even a long life is limited by time. As time goes by, it becomes increasingly precious. It becomes the most precious thing a person can give to another. You have spent countless hours and years honing your craft, so much time, and now you share with me and all the people of this forum, your time and talent. It is we, sir, who owe you a great debt of gratitude. Thank you for all that you have given us here on the forum. Thank you for sharing the joy your beautiful writing brings.

Thank YOU for your generosity!  That is simply beautiful!!  It's the most beautiful calligraphy that I have ever seen!!
