Day 23 - 2022: BOOGER!

The prettiest booger I’ve ever seen.

I was not inspired by this word, so under non-rule 22, section b, paragraph 1 of the Inktober no rules policy, and in celebration of the discovery that my 12 oz. bottle of Sumi ink, sealed and unopened for 23+ years is still good, I've penned (brushed, actually) the word sumi in Japanese below said bottle. I've tossed out the contents of the similarly aged small bottle--it took more that a day to dry--and refilled it with the bigger bottle. Turns out, @K-2  it is Yasutomo sumi, not Kuretake, but should last me years unless I start using a larger brush.

It started with layout practice on blank watercolor paper and ended up as a finished, gilded piece.

Very great controls in  skilled effortless easy looking flourishes. But I am sure  they  are  no doubts  the results of  long term commitments to gaining that penmanship.

oh wow, @Lucie Y -- Gorgeous!  and with the little birds!  As pretty as the booger @Erica McPhee gave us! 
* Oh, and I meant to say earlier how much I like that capital W on your Wolf layout!

@AnasaziWrites and @Zivio -- that bit of Kanji means that you have a bottle of Yasutomo KF series sumi.  It is heavily lacquered and dries very slowly (especially in humidity).  But when it is dry, it is very shiny - kind of like the McCafferey's Gloss Black of the situation.  If you want the matte version that dries fast and is waterproof, get the KY series.  Generally speaking, I really like Yasutomo inks, with all their special features - their gold ink in the porcelain dish looks dull and matte when you apply it, but it can be burnished to a shine, just like shell gold.

I personally was so inspired by this prompt that, following Lucie's lead, I did a longer piece of writing in copperplate!
