Show & Tell / Message in a bottle themed wedding souvenirs
« on: September 03, 2015, 02:38:19 PM »
I've so wanted to come back to the forum and Instagram but life keeps on getting in the way.
Since I haven't been authorised to share these on IG yet (only a few made for 12 people and some will be angry for not having received one), I will share these only here for now and hope you like them.
My friend wanted invitations for her wedding but only had the info ready one month before the wedding. Hence, I ended up doing them as souvenirs for the closest family, the bride & groom and me! It's the first thing I'm asked to do in calligraphy and although it was not professional work and suffered to do some things (designing the layout and centering the text) I really loved the process and liked the end result.

So, a small piece of paper had the info of the wedding, I rolled it and tied it up with some kind of hay string thingy and put them inside the bottles. I put the cork in and made braids with a coloured string of fabric to tie the name tag to the bottles.
The tags were made in white. The groom's family invitations were made in green and black and the bride's family in lavender and black. The wedding was full of lavender everywhere because it was in Marseille.
After working on this and dealing with a bride my love and admiration for this community has multiplied by 1000!!!!
Anyway, let me know what you think. I really hope I can improve and would love to do more things like this in the future.....but not for free anymore XD

Oh and also some tags for the wine.. I also learned to design some other things. When I get the professional pictures I'll share. Those were not calligraphy made though!

Introductions / Is it too late to say Hi?
« on: May 01, 2015, 07:25:36 PM »
Hi there?

I've been practising calligraphy for about half a year now. Have been a member of the forum for a while but haven't really been active enough. So much that I actually had missed this section, I believe :-(
So I thought I'd still introduce myself. Some of you already know me and I do stalk some of your beautiful work on Ig, from where I've gathered inspiration and motivation. I've participated in two FF exchanges, which I have loved and I thank Erica sincerely for organising those!
I'm a leftie and I live in Spain but I'm from Venezuela, a country that I swear doesn't only have beauty peagents and oil...And Bad politicians.  ;D
I'm trying to make my copperplate look nice. Still struggling! 😊 and once I learn it properly I'll dare with spencerian. We'll see! Anyway, just thought I owed an introduction and I look forward to meeting some of you in letters one day! :-)
