I was weary of using the cloud, as many people were/are, but after we updated at the office (graphic design firm) I find myself liking it more and more. We use about 6-7 of the adobe cloud applications and the frequency of the new updates (along with their function) are very nice for the most part. If you're a student then it's a pretty good deal, I believe its $200 for a year of the full creative cloud, and since they acquired Behance you also get their Prosite portfolio service included.

However for personal use it is a bit harder to take the hit of the cost unless you make a living using the software.

thanks for sharing your experience, fraktur. that helps me feel confident in my decision to have purchased CS6 (while it still exists) since i only currently use it for personal use and only just learning how to use it.

and thanks erica and andy for the inkscape link and tutorial!! looking forward to looking into this.
