new nib and holder help please
« on: October 08, 2016, 11:09:48 AM »
Hi,

I am new to pointed pen.  I was using a cheep speedball oblique with a hunt 101 (and some others I played around with).  Then I purchased an EF66 which I was able to kinda work but obviously needed a new holder.  I just purchased a new holder from John Neal to use with the EF66 (and it came with a new new as well).  I thought it would be fun to try some reeves gouache as well.  Well I tried it and nothing would write.  Then I decided to clean it and go back to ink.  For some odd reason I cannot get hairlines or swells.  Its as if suddenly nothing will flow from that nib.  Any ideas what I could be doing wrong?

Thanks
Sarah

Could you show a picture of the writing and what the nib looks like when you dip it into ink?

Andy T Thank you so so much.  After watching that video I was able to make it work!  I am so thrilled with this nib now.

Thanks should be aimed in the direction of The Mighty Schin, of course.  :)
