Newbie Question About Tutorials & Practice

I'm going through the tutorials - slowly though, as I'm lucky to get in 30 mins. of practice a day. My questions are:  How long should you spend practicing one lesson? (Or does it depend on how you think you're doing?) Should you 'master' one lesson before you move on to the next? Should you go back and do some old ones regularly, or just keep moving ahead? And do I have any hope of getting anywhere with 30 mins. a day???

Hi Lori,
You can definitely make progress with 30 minutes a day!  Especially if it's quality uninterrupted time.  That's great. 
Maybe you can set a personal goal.  Example, sometimes I set a goal of 2 full pages of the letter A.  At the end, I evaluate myself and go from there.  Maybe I'll do more of A, maybe I'll work on R.  It just depends how I feel.  I personally like a structured practice time.  I like to set goals for myself too. 
Maybe one or two days you can work on one concept, then something else after that.  Try different ways to break up your practice routine.

Thanks, Roseann -- that definitely helps! As I learn more letters, I'll have more things I can work on, so I'll try to mix it up a bit.

This is a great question Lori!

I would recommend moving on and going through all of the tutorials after a few practice sections for each lesson. This way you have a feel for all letters in context. I always found it more productive practice after I learned the entire alphabet. Otherwise, I made one heck of an A but never really made much progress on the rest of the alphabet!

I definitely think 30 minutes per day will make progress!

I would avoid Capitals (Majuscules) until you have at least gone through all of the lowercase a few times. The capitals take bigger movements and I feel can be frustrating.

I was wondering the same thing, so I'm glad someone asked. I have a difficult time moving onto the next thing because I don't feel like I'm doing well enough yet. Lol I think I'm probably too hard on myself sometimes, though!

Yes, I bet you are too hard on yourself! It's easy to do. That's why I always say put your practice aside for a few days. Move onto something else. Then go back to your sheets. I'm sure you'll see some good things that weren't so obvious while you were working on it!
