I started my calligraphy journey with I Still Love Calligraphy and Skillshare.  I lost my motivation to practice with both classes,  partly because I was busy with work and I wanted to run before I could walk -- and as we are all aware it takes quite a bit of time and patience to be a skillful calligrapher.

I joined the Flourish Forum with the hope that being around calligraphers would inspire me to continue my practice.  For the past month I have followed Erica's lessons, practiced daily and read all the wonderful advice and tips you all share. I have also started to follow many of you on Instagram and I am grateful for everyone's posts as they are the motivation and daily reminders that I need to practice.

Welcome Val! That is wonderful news! I'm so happy you have been enjoying the tutorials and keeping at it. It does take dedication. But I find once I get back in the swing, it becomes addictive!  :)

Hi Val, and Welcome!  I have to laugh--there is NOthing I've experienced that's as motivating as being a part of this Forum!  A personal trainer has nothing on the inspiration, information, encouragement and challenges from these wonderful folks here.  Like Brad said, if you check in daily, you're bound to receive a huge boost.

Welcome! I completely empathize with the "I wanted to run before I could walk" sentiment. I still feel that way! You will find lots of inspiration and advice here, though.
