I found these quite useful tips online they are advertising for a whole styling course in fact :). But I find these little hints quite interesting in themselves already.

I suck at styling photos so bad! It's odd, since I'm actually okay at taking photos of people ... so thank you for that! :)

But............. what's wrong with a skull on a plate?   :P
Seriously now, here's my observation which has to do with creativity and sense of style:  if your style is about skulls, then do it.  It might work for some people.  You cannot please everyone.

I think the skull picture is actually really good (albeit not for a wedding setting...)  The thing about keeping each picture iconic and simple is an excellent rule of thumb.   It's all about details.  For example, good old Martha Stewart got this ages ago.  Her magazines are timeless in this respect:  simple pictures of important details, a sense of cohesion and master plan.

Creating and displaying a cohesive set of pictures is difficult to achieve, but for weddings, cohesion is critical so make that your top goal.  Your calligraphy should visually fit with (and should ideally be designed at the same time as) the photography theme.
