I didn't know such a world existed until a few months ago when I went to the Pen Show here in ATL last Spring.  There weren't many stores with calligraphy supplies but there were some very interesting vintage pens.  I did get a very delicate, straight, mother of pearl and brass, lady's pen/nib holder.  It came with a very pretty vintage schooling nib that's rather stiff.  I do wonder how it was used or if the pen and nib were used together.  In a city like San Francisco, however, the retailers might have completely different offerings.

There is a woman, Susan Wirth who apparently travels the country with her pens.  She specializes in mostly vintage italic pens.  She has an interesting philosophy about choosing writing instruments to make the most of your hand--and one might infer, not the other way 'round.  If you have a chance to take her workshop (45 minutes) it's worth it (no pun intended).  If you choose to linger afterwards, be very prepared to spend some time.

Awesome! Hopefully I can make it :) I need someone to fix the nib on my LAMY 2000. I dropped it and bent the tip just enough to be annoying  :-[

I understand 3 of the major nib-miesters will be there.
Mike Matsuyama, John Montishaw, (I don't remember the 3rd guy).

The third nib chap is probably Greg Minuskin: last I heard he was planning to attend.

Sounds perfect! I read on FountainPenNetwork about a guy who's genius at fixing LAMYs, but he's in Singapore. Let's hope one of these gentlemen can help me out! Also, how amazing is it going to be to see an entire exhibit hall of PENS? I spend hours just wandering through office supply sections of stores. I may need to leave my wallet at home for this one...

Thank you, Gary, for pointing me to this thread! I follow FPGeeks on IG and Twitter so I saw this a while back, I'm really hoping my brother and I will be able to go.

Maybe those of us who go can plan to meet up at least to say hi?

I wish I was into it then I could have had a blast. Quick story my x-wife used to work at a office supply company the ones the supply Office Depot and office max. We did a tour and my goodness floor to wall supplies I mean tall walls 50 feet or more. Ahh the smell. I digress.
