I've been using Hunt 101 with Sumi ink for my engrosser's script. I also tried the Zebra G but found it too stiff and the Brause Rose but couldn't  control it. What nib do you guys favor for engrosser's  and possibly  Spencerian?

Open Flourish | General Discussion / Where do you write?

This is my writing corner. I've mixed a modern office chair for comfort with a 1900's drop-front writing desk, and a poster to remind me to never let cursive disappear.

I'd love to see anyone else's creative space!

Open Flourish | General Discussion / Personal check

I have a question for everyone. I want to write my checks with my oblique pen. I tried to sign one and the ink bled. Do I need different ink? I tried Higgins and I tried Sumi. Do I need to have "special" checks made?

Can anyone please let me know what areas of pointed pen can I work on to improve my skills. I use Higgins ink and a Nikko G nib in an oblique holder. I have been teaching myself for about three years using the zanarian manual, IAMPETH lessons, Instagram, videos by Paul Antonio (I got his book too). I think I'm ready to have some personal lessons or work with someone experienced to help me grow to the next level. Anyone up to the challenge?

I was bored, so I drew and quickly lettered to see what combining a cartoon with copperplate would look like.

Open Flourish | General Discussion / Enlarged engrosser's hand
« on: November 25, 2018, 06:10:54 PM »
I've been learning engrosser's hand with a strait and oblique pen with the xheight getting no bigger than 3/8 if an inch. What tool would I use to write a poster sized letter by hand. I want it to be hand lettered, not enlarged digitally or photocopied. Any thoughts?

I just want to say thank you for letting me get to know you! Although I enjoy digital typography, it pales in comparison to the enjoyment I've been experiencing by self teaching myself the history of handwriting, starting with Sumerian and paleo-Hebrew, all the way through the area I became most interested in, English roundhand and Engravers/engrosser's hand. There appears to be a rich history of handwriting in the cities near me and I am excited to find others still interested in this as I am. I still research online which is how I found the Flourish Forum. Please be patient with me as I learn to navigate this website from my phone, and I can't wait to see others progress! Thanks.
