I had not heard about the log-in requirement.  Thanks for sharing the article.

It could be that's what I saw but didn't realize she had the nib in a cork - I don't know.  That's interesting, too.  A cork would be fatter than most holders so it might be kind of like using an ergonomic holder.

I've never seen this before, but I have seen Connie Chen use a nib to write or draw with and it wasn't in a holder.  It was in one of her IG posts.

Hi Angela.  I am a very small fish in the pond of people who are responding, but after about 2 years following calligraphers on Instagram I have chosen a favorite and it is the first one that Erica mentioned.  Now, I don't think I have even been exposed to all the great calligraphers, because my time at this is not very long, but I haven't seen anything from John Stevens that I didn't love.  If you are on Instagram you can find him as "calligraphile. "  I know about his book, but have not seen it yet, so this is really just for inspiration.

Hi Jon!

Nice to have you here.  I think I've tried lots of "creative" experiences during my life but calligraphy is something I've come back to also.  You'll find a lot of good info and support here.

Hi Matt - I'm grateful for your question and for the people who answered because I'm looking for something other than the Hunt 101, too.   I'm also using Sumi - I water it down a tiny bit.  Part of my problem with it is that it runs out of ink quickly.  I can only get 4 large strokes out of it and then I have to re-ink.  That seems like a lot of re-inking when you're doing a large page of single strokes.
