The three golden rules in flourishing....

1) Try to cross lines at a high angle .

2) Aim for a sense of symmetry in the white spaces.

3) Never cross thick strokes...it always looks bad.

May I ask what you mean by a high angle??

Ken Fraser:
By "high angle" I mean crossing as close to right angles as possible. "Scripsit" is a good example. This creates uncluttered open spaces.
