Looking for a nice oblique holder in the UK
« on: May 31, 2017, 12:17:53 PM »
Hi folks

I'm looking to replace my plastic holder with a nice oblique one. Just wondering if anyone could recommend an affordable one in the UK?

Thanks!
Faye

Hi Faye!

An affordable wooden oblique that is good, is this one from Scribblers:

https://www.scribblers.co.uk/product/plain-wooden-oblique-holder-with-metal-flange/

And I am a big fan of Melanie her penholders!  @melanie jane
She has an Etsy shop, EnglishPenCrafts.

Regards,
Simone

Thanks for the recommendation @Simone Lettering

There's nothing in my store at the moment but I'll be restocking it on Saturday :-)

I do ship to the UK, but I only have two in my Etsy shop right now. I do however, have a few more ready to go, I just need to cut in the Zanerian flange.  Hopefully by this weekend.

Thanks Simone for the scribblers link, this one is out of stock at the moment but I think it could be suitable for my practice so I'll keep checking!

Then maybe one day I can treat myself to a nice handmade one like the gorgeous ones by Melanie and Darrin :)

Hi Faye

I recommend Roger Mayeda supplied by penman direct, cost £45 or thereabouts, superb. I have two - EF66 and Nikko G. They are only available for a limited time, check out the site - recommended by Postman's Knock :-)

Thanks Claire!

In the end I went for this one https://www.scribblers.co.uk/product/ornamental-wooden-oblique-holder-with-metal-flange/ as the cheapie one Simone linked to was out of stock. I know it's only a very basic one but I'm hoping a bit better than my plastic £2 one and will help me realise if I've 'got the bug' or not! I've also bought myself a lifetime's supply of walnut crystals so I'm looking forward to getting stuck in now and having a play.

I'll keep a note of the all the other recommended pens as they're potentially things I can pop on my christmas list - if I've seen any improvement by then! ;-)

@Fayep81 I'm sure it'll be a better one than the plastic one!
Enjoy writing with your new holder & the walnut ink  :D

Hallo Faye,

here is another Link to a penholder-maker in the UK:
http://www.chicoblique.co.uk
That's the homepage from Edward Curran. On Etsy he has a Shop, too: ChicOblique.co.uk

Maybe something interesting for you and your christmas list  ;)

Isabel
