Wedding Vows
« on: February 01, 2023, 02:59:14 PM »
A commission I just completed for a mid-February wedding (to the detriment of my progress through Inkvent, but priorities, you know) - I took some photos before I added anyone's name or dates.  The photos don't really show how shimmery the inks are, or the exact tonal qualities of the inks, alas.  The whole piece is around 80x60cm.  x-height on the italics is 1cm.  The base ink is Sailor Tokaiwa-matsu, with ombre effects achieved by front-loading drops of Diamine's Gold Star (Inkvent 2019) and Robert Oster Heart of Gold through Pilot Parallel pens with 1.5mm and 2.4mm nibs.  Then I added the English pen-work with a G-nib and Dr. Ph. Martin's Copperplate Gold.  (Posted with permission)

Wonderful. Very creative layout as well.
Where did you eventually put the names and date?

Thanks for your kind thoughts, @Erica McPhee , @TeresaS and @AnasaziWrites -- I put the names in a narrow band following the second circle, following the "as my wife/husband" text; then the dates went on the interior contour of the last semi-circle "with you".  The interlocking circular layout suggests the wedding rings and the intertwining of two families.  Bride, Groom, and mother of the bride all seemed really pleased with it!  And since it was important to them to have it displayed at the wedding itself, I anticipate getting a few more commissions stemming from it.

Beautiful lettering.  I love the uncial, italic, and Roman(ce) play
