Hello, Calligrafriends! I'm Sally Ellington. I have always loved handwriting. I remember my handwriting teacher visiting our small country grade school to teach our lesson; she always wrote something really "fancy" on the chalk board, and I was in awe. I loved to practice my lessons and make up my own style of writing as well.
I then learned Italic handwriting as my children were learning the Inga Dubay style of lettering. I learned Engrosser's script through Joe Vilolo's videos, because my oldest daughter wanted hand-written wedding invitations and envelopes. I lettered envelopes for a couple more weddings, but didn't really do a whole lot with calligraphy until recently. I found The Postman's Knock website in a search for something calligraphy related. I ordered a modern calligraphy kit, and had a blast.
Last month, I took a watercolor class with Phyllis Macaluso! I started an Instagram page to post my work, and in the process fell back in love with calligraphy, watercolor florals, and the calligraphy family. What a wonderfully supportive group of friends!
