Tools & Supplies / Calligraphy Inks in India

Hi,

Good morning guys,

I am looking for different types of Inks, those are available in India and which other Calligraphers ( Indian) are using.

I have tried ISOMARS calligraphy Inks, also SUMI ink and Chinese ink, also "winster and newton" ones too, and inks from "Speedball" also.

Is there is any other variety on ink available ? which is good for practice work too..

Guys @ash0kgiri  , @prasad  and @Garima . which ink you do use guys?

Show & Tell / Punjabi / Gurmukhi Calligraphy

Hi

In this space, I am putting the work related to , Punjabi/Gurmukhi Calligraphy.

The word "Punjabi" is  derived from the word "Punjab" which is a state in the northern India.  Punjabi also known as "Gurmukhi"  means "from the Guru's mouth". You can read more about it here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gurmukhi_alphabet

Calligraphy in Gurmukhi is kind of dying art, every year lesser and lesser people learn reading and writing in a normal  script. I am hoping while doing calligraphy in Gurmukhi, I may able to give my contribution to save this art from to coming generations.

Greetings of the day.

I do calligraphy in English, but i also do calligraphy in Hindi/Devnagari too , So i thought to create this posts to share my Devnagri work with you.
You can read about origin  of Devnagri script here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devanagari .

Devanagri is also known as "Hindi". .. .. I am hoping that you may like the little variation of Calligraphy in a different language.

Show & Tell / My Daily Practice - Journey.

Greetings of the day Everyone.

All Calligrapher say one thing in single voice that,  "Calligraphy is not an art, it's a Journey".

I am in this journey too, and I do  spend few hours daily doing/practicing   Calligraphy , but sometime you feel that you are stuck, stuck in the path and you are looking for some guidance and help or you can say CHS (Calligraphy helping system) in our language   .

I am little bit lost too and the reason behind it , when I saw my Calligraphy it seems monotonous and it's missing something, I don't know yet. But  I decided to get help and I have joined this wonderful group of calligraphers, so that i can come back on track, can find my mistakes, can try to help others too and I think to post my updated work,, here.

My idea is,,, I am going to Implement the suggestions those I get here, in to my Calligraphy and keep posting updated work here... and my ToDo list too.

It might be my Journal... hopefully...

Let's see how it will go ....

Broad Edge Pen Calligraphy / Calligraphy Layouts and Formatting.

Good Morning Everyone

I am hoping everyone is good and in high spirits.

I am working with Calligraphy layouts and formatting this week. I have tried to do some  *Fancy* formatting to a Calligraphy quote, but the output was quote crappy ( I admit that my Calligraphy is not so good, but the output seems more crappy then that ) .

It would be great , if someone can help with suggestion, materials, some calligraphy formatting, ideas so that we can all can get befits from it..

Digital Design / Hand Calligraphy + Digital Imaging

My Name is Aman and I am from India. I am looking for Pen Pals. Writing letters is a lost tradition these days , and emailing over computer is not the same as the letters, the same way one is love to read an actual hard book, rather then reading  it on a Kindle.

I am looking for Pen pals, to share Calligraphy ( I do Italic, Hindi, Devnagari and Punjabi). And also love to share experience over letters, I am not just looking for Pen Pals, I am looking for a good friends too across the world.

I don't have any single Pen Pal yet , but , I do believe that I will have few good ones soon.

Introductions / Namastey From India

Hello / Namastey / Good Morning Everyone.

My name is "Aman Singh" and I am from "New Delhi, India". I am doing calligraphy from past few years. I am not a perfect in Calligraphy , but I love to do it and I am kind-of Calli-ohlic ( if that word exists ), I am addicted to Calligraphy.  I do the calligraphy in English ( Uncial and Italic , and Italic Flourishes ) , Hindi / Devnagari , and Gurmukhi / Punjabi.

Calligraphy in "Hindi/Devanagari, Punjabi/Murmuring" is kind of dying tradition in India and I am  and some others are trying to revive it. Last year a spanish news T.V channel created a documentary  about the situation of Calligraphy in India and I got covered in the documentary too ( http://www.abc.com.py/internacionales/el-arte-de-escribir-bien-resiste-en-la-india-1508337.html ). 

I was looking for some "Pen Pals" and someone suggested me this forum and when i explored this forum I have found so many interesting topic and I couldn't wait to register it and believe me, after registration,  I keep checking my emails after every one hour and keep waiting for the approval email to come same-as child kept waiting for the Christmas to come.

But before an approval email, an email come from Erica , asking me, "Why I want to join the forum"?  ( Ok, I first thought that's it's a computer generated automatic emailer)  , I replied, but then an email come again from Erica, to welcome me... WOW!!!! Erica, you have done a great job and I am really thankful to you for my membership approval and thanks you for taking you time and reply to my email.... God bless You.

So here I am, to learn from you , to make new friends, to make some "Pen Pals" ( don't have any yet).... and  to get best wishes and guidance from you so that I can try to give my contribution to make this art revive again, alive again and keep it alive for the next-coming generation.
