Hello, I'm Sue W from a small coastal town in NSW Australia.  Not too much here for a wannabe calligrapher so online is my main learning centre.
I always loved to see a nicely written piece but never had the time to sit and practice!  I started at the beginning of the year using a pointed dip pen and really enjoy the process.  I've jut started to add some flourishing to my work but ohhhh I've a long way to go!
Thank you for adding me to the forum, I look forward to getting to know some of you :-)

Hello Sue and Welcome to the forum!

How are you practicing your flourishing? Do you have a book to guide you or are you playing around with placement and seeing what works? I'm kind of in the same spot as you; I'm thinking about getting the Ornate Pictorial Calligraphy book. And probably should practice more  ::)

Anyway, glad you are with us and best of luck on your calligraphy journey :)

Welcome! You've come to the right place. There are a lot of resources and examples to find here. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing, especially for those in isolated areas?

Flourishing has been put on the back burner for the moment as I get back to basics!
I’ve realised that learning on my own without constructive critiques means that although
I have the letter shapes sorted, my pen strokes need some work! I’ve joined Salman’s Copperplate tutorials here in the forum and hope to get back on track soon ish 🙄

A very belated welcome Sue! I'm happy to read you are starting Salman's tutorials. It's a great way to learn the proper letterforms and gain the practice necessary for branching out to flourishing. I hope to share more flourishing techniques later this year. In any event, welcome!  ;D
