Great work Prasad. How do you do your loops? Do you go over the lop in one stroke or do you do the shade first?

Thanks Alex,
Looking at your work that is a real ego booster  :) :)
I go over in one stroke,  Start at the top of the X height line, up and over and shade on the downstroke.
Find that much easier.  I have tried to do it the other way,  but hands are too shaky to match the hairlines  :)

Plus, my new favourite nib now is the Gillott 303.  So this helps develop a light touch for upstrokes.

OK, Alex. Giving this week's a try.

You need to  "try" a lot lot more Sandy.  ;D It's gorgeous and like Alex's work great reference for practise.

Thanks Prasad and Alex. Alex, when you make those secondary shades on your descending loops, can you see where you are meeting the right part of the loop? It's a blind connection for me because my hand gets in the way so the two parts of the loop hardly ever connect perfectly, unless I get lucky.

It took a lot of practice but yeah I can see them now. It is less noticeable when using a not so fine nib and ink that doesn't go as transparent as walnut ink

So you can see your lines when you're making the connection? My original comment was a question and not meant as a critique.  ;) I'm just wondering if you hold your pen in a certain way so that you can see where you're going.

Yeah I suppose I can see. I have never really had an issue with being able to see what I'm doing. I have been told I letter more upright than most though. Dont worry I didn't take it as a critique I just dislike my loops the most out of my script lol

Or any specific book you refer?

And keep posting more.

Ashok

There are tons of downloads on the IAMPETH rare books site.  I mostly work from those.  A hell of a LOT of work has been done by Dr.Vitolo on compiling stuff.
This link is to a pdf which lists all the stuff he has compiled including book scans, videos and most of his work to date.
http://www.zanerian.com/VitoloRecordOfPenmanshipContributions.pdf

I particularly love the work of E.C. Enriquez.
You can get links to his stuff in the above pdf
No. 6 Page 8  (Hi res zip file of his works)
No.47  Page 11  (his life and works)

There is a Tonne of resources mentioned in the above pdf.  Will keep you busy for YEARS  ;D ;D

I have just started practising this style and it is so addictive.  Changed all my fountain pens to Extra extra fine pens too ;D so that I can practise whenever I get some off time.

Happy writing
